3/27/20: Updates

Agenda & Minutes

1. PT status. Working on MSIS proposal.
2. VJB status. Candidacy exams: has passed the meeting with EP, plans to meet with MY and SD after spring break. Plans to update us on data sources and readings regularly starting soon.
3. MH. Thinking about turning thesis into paper. Kalman filters, transfer functions, might be ways around the problem that time series analysis tends to assume data with regular periodic time points, but launches don't occur with any particular periodicity. 
4. There is a new tab called "Strain the Brain!" on this website. It will help people familiarize with some of the ideas underlying what we are doing.
5. WMSCI paper update. Conference could end up being cancelled, delayed, and/or held online.
6. We are skipping around in our paper Moore’s Law and Space Exploration: New Insights and Next Steps. Last time we read the second paragraph in section "The Moore’s law conundrums."
7. In the future we may continue to discuss this. We read table 2 and results par. 1 most recently so next is par. 2.

3. VJB status. Preparing for candidacy exams: has problem statement and 2 out of 3 examiners lined up. Plans to update us on data sources and readings regularly starting soon.
4. WMSCI paper update. No news yet. Could the conference end up being cancelled?
5. We are skipping around in our paper Moore’s Law and Space Exploration: New Insights and Next Steps. Today we read the second paragraph in section "The Moore’s law conundrums."
6. In the future we may continue to discuss this. We read table 2 and results par. 1 most recently so next is par. 2.

3. VJB status. Preparing for candidacy exams: has problem statement and 2 out of 3 examiners lined up. Plans to update us on data sources and readings regularly starting soon.

5. We are skippping around in our paper Moore’s Law and Space Exploration: New Insights and Next Steps. Today we started with the 2nd par. on p. 15 and read through the first paragraph in section "The Moore’s law conundrums."

5. Start reviewing our paper M. Howell, V. Kodali, R. Segall, H. Aboudja, and D. Berleant, “ Moore’s Law and Space Exploration: New Insights and Next Steps ,” Journal of the Arkansas Academy of Science (2019), 73(Article 6):13-17? We read the abstract and first two paragraphs. Next time we will skip around and hit some key material later in the paper. We will start with the 2nd par. on p. 15.
6. Plans for VJB to update us on satellite data.
